The prospect of LNG arriving in Boston Harbor aboard a Yemeni tanker presents a genuine terrorist threat that cannot be dismissed. Yemen currently functions as a global epicenter of terrorism, lacking effective governmental control while hosting numerous Al Qaeda training facilities. City Manager Jay Ash and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino have articulated a compelling argument: permitting these shipments to proceed without restriction invites serious danger. Their position is sound. Given contemporary security realities, we cannot afford even a single mistake. One error could prove catastrophic and irreversible.
