On July 22, Ralph F. Fabiano, Jr. of Revere passed away at the age of 67.
A native of Revere who worked as a roofer, he is survived by his beloved wife Grace (Montecalvo) of Revere. His children include Steven Fabiano and his fiancée Jennifer Potvin of Revere; Sandra Carlisle with her husband Tom of Chelsea; Nancy Fabiano and her fiancée Rick Mastropretro of Burlington; and Linda Fabiano of Revere. His siblings were Louie Fabiano and his wife Betty, George Fabiano and his wife Grace, Sue Fabiano, Eileen Palmacci and her husband Louie, and Carol Barrett and her husband John. He was a grandfather to Andrea, Steven, Joey, Alexa, Michael, Samantha, Melissa, Amanda, Andy, Jimmy, Paul and Danielle, and was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours took place today, Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held Friday, July 25 at 9 a.m. from the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons~Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St., Revere, with a Funeral Mass to follow at St. Anthony’s Church at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Maureen Christerson
Maureen B. (O’Callaghan) Christerson, age 88, of Chelsea died on July 20.
Originally from County Kerry, Ireland, she was the beloved daughter of the late James and the late Mary Ann (Teahan) O’Callaghan. She is survived by her loving children Albert of Florida, Robert of Wilmington, Paul of Sagamore Beach, and the late James Christerson. Her siblings included the late Pearl Layton, Robert, James, and Peter O’Callaghan. Seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive her.
Today, Thursday, July 24, visiting hours are scheduled at the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Ave., Chelsea from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a service at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Lorraine Dunn
Worked as Salvation Army Bookkeeper
Lorraine (Carson) Dunn, who resided in Revere and previously lived in Chelsea, peacefully entered eternal rest on July 19 with her loving family at her side. She had been the devoted wife of George H. Dunn for 60 years.
Born in Berlin, NH, Lorraine spent most of her years in Chelsea raising five children before beginning work at the Salvation Army as a bookkeeper.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Jerome and Eleanor (Bilodeau) Carson. Five children survive her: George E. and his wife Debra, Clinton and his wife Debraann, Raymond and his wife Maria, Wendy and her husband Paul, and Mary Ellen. She leaves behind seven grandchildren and is survived by four of her nine siblings: Henry Carson, Judy Mucci, Linda Richardson and Gail Giammanco, along with many loving nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Friday, July 25 at 10:45 a.m. at Puritan Lawn in Peabody. In Lorraine’s memory, donations may be sent to the American Liver Foundation at wwwliverfoundation.org.

Mary Annie Whalen
Retired City of Chelsea Treasurer’s Office Clerk, Proud of Irish Heritage
At Melrose Wakefield Hospital in Melrose, Mary Annie (McFarland) Whalen died on July 21 at age 93.
Mary was born and raised in Chelsea as the daughter of the late Stephen and Katherine (Keaveney) McFarland. She graduated from St. Rose High School in the Class of 1939. After marrying, she and her late husband established their home in Chelsea where they raised their family. She remained a Chelsea resident for over 80 years before moving to Melrose 10 years ago.
Her career included 25 years of dedicated service to Chelsea City Hall as a Treasurer’s Office Clerk for the City of Chelsea. Life brought her great joy, and she was known for sharing laughter with family and friends. Her Irish heritage was a source of great pride, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Her late husband, Walter F. Whalen, was an MDC Police Officer. She leaves behind her son Steven M. Whalen and his wife Gail of Wakefield, and her daughter Nancy M. McBride and her husband John C. McBride. Her siblings included the late Hugh, James, Andrew, Francis and George McFarland. Five grandchildren survive her: John C. McBride, Jr., Devin McBride, Katelyn M. McBride, Ashley M. Loughlin and Laurie R. Whalen. She also leaves one great-grandson, Camden Loughlin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Friday, July 25 at 9:30 a.m. from the William R. Carafa & Son Home For Funerals, 389 Washington Ave., Chelsea, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church, 59 Nicholas St., Everett/Chelsea line. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Today, Thursday, visiting hours run from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Anthony S. Cesareo
The Constant Gentleman
On July 21, Anthony (“Tony”/”Joe”) Salvatore Cesareo, of Peabody, MA, formerly of Chelsea, MA and Naples, FL, died peacefully. He was 93 years old.
Born on August 4, 1920, Anthony was the son of the late Stellario and Vincenza (Triffiletti) Cesareo. He was raised in Revere and graduated from Revere High School in 1940. The husband of the late Helen (Domenichello) R. Cesareo, he had been married for 64 years until her passing in 2011.
In 1942, Anthony proudly entered the US Army. He bravely served in World War II in India & Okinawa, Japan as a high-speed manual radio operator with the 413th Signal Company. Upon honorable discharge in 1946, he received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.
His employment history included long-term positions with Globe Nickel Plating Co., the City of Chelsea Park Department and Massport. He was a member of the Local 157 Teamsters Union, the American Legion Naples, FL, the VFW Saugus, the Knights of Columbus Chelsea and a parishioner of Our Lady of Grace Parish in Chelsea.
Anthony had many passions: music, singing, playing bocce, cooking, baking and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also loved candy, cookies and Manhattans!
Known throughout his life as the constant gentleman who always tipped his hat, Joe possessed a kind soul and continually helped those around him. His vocations, friendships and family all received his unselfish dedication. Everyone appreciated his entertaining sense of humor and witty one-liners.
His adored children were Carol J. Siuda and her husband Leonard, of Melrose, and Arlene M. Iannetti and her husband Mario, of Peabody. As Nono, he was a loving grandfather to Lauren J. D’Addario and her husband Glenn, of Danvers, and to grandsons Andrew M. Iannetti and Matthew A. Iannetti, both of Peabody. He was also the doting great-grandfather of Sophie J. and Stella M. D’Addario, also of Danvers. The dear brother of the late Joan, Josephine, Leo, Stellario “Larry”, Richard Cesareo, Katherine Stokes, Eleanor Pupolo and Lena Caissie, he is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and caregivers.

Anthony A. Halas
Advocate for veterans
An advocate for war veterans, Anthony A. Halas III died unexpectedly on July 9, 2014 at age 66.
Born in Boston, Mr. Halas grew up in Chelsea. He attended St. Stanislaus School and graduated from Chelsea High School in 1967. His military service included duty as a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was the son of Phyllis Halas of Chelsea and the late Anthony Halas Jr. His brother Richard Halas and his wife Linda Halas reside in Revere. He is also survived by his wife Kathy, two sons, Danny and Richard, and four nieces, Colby Halas, Courtney Halas, Genevieve Kopek, and Sabrina Kopek.
Mr. Halas held the position of president of the South Jersey Vietnam Veterans Association and served as vice president of the POW/MIA Awareness Organization of New Jersey. He worked as a veterans services officer for the county’s veterans affairs office and was the former commander of the Gloucester County (N.J.) Veterans Advisory Council and former commander of the VFW District 13. He also served on the committee that established the Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery where he was laid to rest.
