A collection of downtown Chelsea retailers and the local Chamber of Commerce are gearing up for a significant promotional event spanning Friday, Saturday, and Monday, capitalizing on the back-to-school shopping season.
According to Chamber Director Rich Cuthie, approximately 20 businesses have signed on for this year’s initiative, which promises to exceed previous efforts in both scope and appeal.

The downtown district’s participating establishments span diverse sectors—apparel retailers, telecommunications shops, bakeries, pizzerias, nail salons, and barbering services are all located within the Parkway Plaza and surrounding area. Though back-to-school merchandise drives the central marketing message, the event welcomes a broader audience.
Cuthie explained that college students acquiring new phones or others unaffiliated with Chelsea Public Schools remain eligible to participate and compete in the prize drawing.
Beyond in-store discounts, the Chamber is conducting a drawing for three Mastercard gift cards valued at $100, $50, and $25. Participants must complete a purchase at a participating establishment during the weekend event, retain their receipt, and deliver it to the Chamber office at 308 Broadway to enter.
The process involves receiving a stamp and completing an entry card at the Chamber office, with the drawing occurring Monday following the promotion’s conclusion, Cuthie stated.
The underlying strategy remains straightforward: capitalize on existing Broadway pedestrian traffic and encourage local spending. Cuthie emphasized the consistent flow of people through downtown commerce areas and the Chamber’s goal of converting that foot traffic into retail transactions.
