Avellaneda Picks Up Herald Endorsement for Sept. 9

Chelsea, Massachusetts

Roy Avellaneda, the State Rep. Candidate seeking the 2nd Suffolk seat, this week announced that he has secured an endorsement from the Boston Herald for the Democratic primary.

The Herald’s backing represents a second endorsement for Avellaneda, who previously received the publication’s support during last winter’s Special Election.

According to the Herald’s endorsement statement: “In the 2nd Suffolk district, the Herald is pleased to renew its endorsement of Roy Avellaneda in the Democratic primary.”

Avellaneda responded to the endorsement, stating: “fblikebutton_button” “I am proud to have the endorsement of the Boston Herald again for my campaign. This endorsement brings even more momentum to my campaign going into the primary next Tuesday.”

The Herald had previously endorsed Avellaneda during the April 2014 special election for the 2nd Suffolk seat, which was held after then Rep. Eugene O’Flaherty (D-Chelsea) departed to take on the position of Corporate Counsel for the City of Boston.
