Raymond Chipman, III

Raymond R. Chipman, III passed away on May 15 in Chelsea.
A passionate Boston Sports enthusiast and former supervisor at Restaurant Depot, Raymond died at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
He leaves behind his devoted mother, Linda (Urbaczewski) Chipman of Chelsea; his beloved siblings Rae Chipman of New York and Jacqueline Chipman of Malden; his loving aunts and uncles Jack and Patty Urbaczewski of Wakefield, Maxine Urbaczewski of Revere, and Debbie and Kevin Murphy of Revere; and his nieces and nephews Jonathan Chipman of Melrose, Elizabeth Ellison of New York, and Isabella LaVita of Malden. Family and friends are cordially invited to a Life Celebration on Saturday, May 30 at the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, Chelsea, from 12 Noon to 1:30 p.m. Committal Services will be held privately. Catherine Maniscalco
Lifelong Chelsea resident
Catherine A. (Sclafani) Maniscalco of Chelsea passed away on May 21.
A Chelsea resident for 86 years, Catherine died at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home, where she had been receiving supportive care for the past six years.
She was the devoted wife of the late Vincenzo and beloved mother of Janet Maniscalco of Chelsea, Thomas A. Maniscalco and his wife Luigina of Danvers, and the late James V. Maniscalco. She is also survived by her loving sister, the late Michael Sclafani; her cherished grandchildren Carla Giovinco and her husband Francesco, and Vincent Maniscalco and his fiancée Adina Sweet-Vickery; and her dear friends Rita and George Tentindo of Chelsea.
The Smith Funeral Home, Chelsea handled funeral arrangements. Interment took place at St. Michaels Cemetery, Roslindale. Gilbert Cherry
Former Chelsea High School teacher and past president of Temple B’nai Israel
Gilbert M. Cherry of Swampscott, the long-time beloved partner of Shirley Ashman, passed away on May 21 at the age of 92, surrounded by his loving family.
A Boston native, he was the son of the late Alfred and Lena (Kaplan) Cherry. He was raised and educated in Cambridge and earned degrees from Harvard University and Boston University Graduate School of Education.
An honorably discharged US Army veteran of World War II, Gilbert taught at Chelsea High School. He also worked part-time as a cook at Wonderland Dog Track and the Ritz Carlton Hotel and served as past president of Temple B’Nai Israel.
Gilbert leaves behind his children Deborah of Lynn, Elyse of Brookline, and Howard of New York; his step-children Louise Goodman and her husband Michael of Lexington and William Ashman and his wife Debbie of Littleton; his grandchildren Jacob Cherry and Rebecca Cherry; and his step-grandchildren Jesse Goodman, Daniel, Ben, and Becky Ashman.
The Torf Funeral Chapel of Chelsea arranged services. Interment was at Beth Shalom of Cambridge Cemetery, 232 Fuller St., Everett. Hyman Newman
Former proprietor of the Winnesimett Loan Shop in Chelsea
Hyman Newman of Swampscott, formerly of Chelsea, passed away on May 25 at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home at the age of 95.
The beloved husband of the late Helen (Adelstein) Newman, he was born in Russia to the late Joseph and Charlotte Newman and was raised and educated in Chelsea Schools. An honorably discharged World War II veteran who served in the United States Army, Hyman owned and operated the Winnesimett Loan Shop in Chelsea for many years.
A devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather who will be greatly missed, he is survived by his children Mark Newman, Sandra Newman, Todd Newman, and Beth Newman; his grandchildren Adam Newman and Matthew Newman; and was preceded in death by his brother Irving Datz and sister Sarah Jaffee.
His funeral service will take place today, Thursday, May 28 at 11 a.m. at the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave., Chelsea, followed by interment at the North Russell Street Cemetery, 232 Fuller St., Everett. John Mastropietro
Worked for electrical contractors
John T. Mastropietro of Lynn, formerly of Chelsea, died on Tuesday morning, May 26 after a brief illness at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 56 years old.
Born in Boston and raised in Chelsea, he was the beloved son of the late Carmen Mastropietro, the late Mary R. (Brennan) Garceau, and her late husband Thomas Garceau. John attended Chelsea Schools and worked as a laborer for various electrical contractors.
He was married to Theresa M. King Mastropietro and was the father and guardian of three sons and four daughters. His family began in East Boston, and he had been a Lynn resident for the past 17 years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 19 years; his devoted children Nicholas, Jolene, Lauren, and Theresa; and his cherished guardianship of Andrew, Ashley, and Michael Mento. He was also a dear brother to Jerri and George, Anna, Joey, Vicki, Dottie and Pablo, Carmen, Ricky, Jimbo, and Ronny, and the cherished grandfather of Aliyah.
His Funeral will begin from the Frank A. Welsh & Sons Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea on Saturday, May 30 at 9 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend. Delma Pesce
Dedicated homemaker
Delma D. (Borgatti) Pesce died peacefully on May 21 at the Life Care Center of Attleboro at the age of 93.
Born and raised in Chelsea, she attended Chelsea Public Schools and graduated from Chelsea High School in the Class of 1938. Delma lived in Saugus for many years before relocating to Wakefield, then settling in Attleboro at Canterbury Woods before moving to the Life Care Center of Attleboro. She devoted most of her life to homemaking, caring for her husband, three children, and home, and later enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She gave many years of service to the Blessed Sacrament Church in Saugus as the CCD Coordinator and Ladies Sodality member.
She was the wife of the late Ernest F. Pesce and the beloved mother of Robert E. Pesce Sr. and his wife Janet of Georgetown, John J. Pesce and his wife Donna of North Attleboro, and Carol A. Pesce of Somerset. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Luppi) Borgatti; the dear sister of Robert Borgatti and his wife Terry, and Richard Borgatti and his wife Dorothy, all of Virginia; and the sister of the late Louis and Frances Borgatti and sister-in-law of the late Grayce Borgatti. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The Carafa Family Funeral Home, Chelsea arranged services. Interment took place in Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.

Wendy Dunlop of Chelsea died suddenly on May 23 at the age of 38.
She was the beloved daughter of the late John Mandracchia and Marie (Koczorowski); the devoted sister of Virginia DeSantis of New Hampshire; the cherished granddaughter of Louise (Flammia) Koczorowski of Chelsea and the late Anthony; the dear niece of Lola Hollingsworth of Tewksbury, Teresa Koczorowski of Revere, and Richard Koczorowski of Haverhill; and the loving aunt of Stephen Garrett, Ryan Garrett, Kristin DeSantis, and Jason Garrett Jr. She is also survived by her great-nephew Liam Doty and her cousins Kenneth Dulong and Fadela Nedjar.
Her Funeral will be held from the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons- Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St., Revere on Friday, May 29 at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at the Immaculate Conception Church at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
