Anna C. (DiMichele) Poli, who had lived in East Boston her entire life, died on November 30 following a brief illness at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 87.
A native of Newton Upper Falls, Anna was the daughter of the late Crescenzo and Angelina DiMichele. She grew up in East Boston, completed her education at Boston public schools, and earned her diploma from East Boston High School. Before marriage, she worked outside the home as a single woman. Sixty-two years ago, she wed Domenic Poli, and the couple raised their two sons, Mark and Dean, in East Boston. Throughout her life, she prioritized her family and home, taking pleasure in preparing meals for family occasions, traveling, and spending close to 30 summers vacationing with her family in Falmouth. She leaves behind her husband of 62 years, Domenic S. Poli; her sons Mark Poli and his wife, Priscilla of Quincy and Dean Poli and his wife, Judy of Melrose; her sister Ida DiMichele of East Boston and the memory of her late brother Daniel DiMichele; and her grandchildren Domenic Poli and his wife, Jennifer of Greenfield and Nicholas Poli of Weymouth. Visitation and funeral services will take place at the Frank A. Welsh & Sons Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea on Saturday, December 5 from 8 to 10 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Grace Church, 59 Nichols St., Chelsea at 10:30 a.m. The service will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. All relatives and friends are cordially invited.
