Winifred E. (Bright) Levko, a longtime Chelsea resident, died unexpectedly on April 1 following a sudden illness at Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett. She had reached the age of 83. A Chelsea native who spent her formative years on Williams Street and attended schools in the area, she was the daughter of Charles and Mary (Crowley) Bright, both deceased. Her early work life gave way to marriage and a focus on family and household responsibilities. She is survived by her devoted children: Patricia Johnson and her husband, John, of Cranston, RI; Barbara Levko of Chelsea; and Margaret DiDonato and her husband, Ronald, of Chelsea. Her husband, Nickolas Levko, predeceased her in 2003. Among her siblings were Paul A. Bright of Revere and John Levko of Chelsea, her brother-in-law. She was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters. Her grandchildren include John Johnson and his wife, Alison, of Connecticut; Nickole Sciortino and her husband, Gino, of Virginia; Karen Johnson of Rhode Island; Emily Johnson of New Jersey; and Amanda DiDonato and her husband, Robert, of Chelsea. She was a great-grandmother to J.J. Johnson of Connecticut. Barbara Belanger of Hanover was among her nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass took place at St. Rose Church on Tuesday, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. The Frank A. Welsh and Sons Funeral Home handled funeral arrangements.
