Once more, Chelsea’s Fire Department is partnering with Toys for Tots and the Globe Santa program to collect toys for families in need throughout the city. According to their findings, “wp-caption alignright” “We did a little research into the Globe Santa and Toys for Tots and found out that more than 800 children had been helped in Chelsea and 400 families by those organizations,” Rogers explained. This discovery motivated the department to expand its commitment to the campaign.
From now through December 18, the Central Fire Station will serve as a collection point for new, unwrapped toys. The station accepts donations every day of the week, operating between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Those seeking assistance with holiday gifts should reach out to City Hall, their social worker, pastor, or Globe Santa directly.
Emphasizing the time-sensitive nature of the effort, Ruiz stressed that “wp-caption-text” “Anything to help the kids. We have to act fast and quick because it’s only going until Dec. 18 and that’s coming soon.” Firefighters are actively seeking substantial contributions before the deadline arrives, at which point donations will transfer to the Marines for distribution. The U.S. Marines have operated Toys for Tots since 1947, and in 2013 alone collected 16 million toys destined for 7 million children.
