The community extends its heartfelt congratulations to the newly inaugurated Chelsea city officials, who took their oaths in a memorable ceremony held in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
Both the City Council and the School Committee have welcomed new members. Chelsea residents expressed their desire for change during the November elections, and now the City Council and School Committee—comprising both new and returning members—must work together to continue improving our city.
City Manager Tom Ambrosino has started implementing new initiatives, building on the progress achieved during the time of former City Manager Jay Ash.
We are confident that the new City Council will maintain a strong and professional relationship with Mr. Ambrosino, who demonstrated a unifying presence during his tenure as mayor of Revere and collaborated effectively with the Revere City Council.
Supt. of Schools Dr. Mary Bourque can rely on the School Committee members to help enhance our school system and ensure that every student receives the best possible educational experience. Dr. Bourque has proven to be a dynamic leader—and an inspiring role model for young women—and we anticipate even greater success for our schools in the future.
Chelsea’s city government is in capable hands, and we wish our first-year city officials, as well as those who have served with distinction in the past, the best of luck in 2016 and beyond.
