Joan Cromwell, president of Chelsea Black Community (CBC), has announced that eight individuals will receive recognition as “Chelsea Trailblazers” at the organization’s third annual Black History Month celebration, taking place today at Chelsea High School.
Following the dinner portion, an awards ceremony will be held in the CHS auditorium to honor the recipients.
The eight honorees are Robert “Duke” Bradley, Richard Katz, Shirley Thompson, Maureen Lee, Ronald Robinson, Annie Jones, Police Chief Brian Kyes, and Police Lt. Golden “Rico” Tyre.
Cromwell explained, “We are honoring these men and women for making a path and continuing to give back to the community.”
Henry Wilson serves as chairman of the event, while Dakeya Christmas and Beverly Martin Ross lead the speaking program.
The celebration is free and open to the public, featuring food, activities, and entertainment.
Cromwell added, “Come and enjoy this great event with us. We’re going to have dinner from 5 to 6:15 p.m. and then move in to the auditorium for the speaking and awards program.”
