Mary King
Homemaker and senior center volunteer
Mary A. (Vallis) King, a resident of Admiral’s Hill in Chelsea and formerly of Revere, died on Sunday morning, April 17 at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home at the age of 95.
Born in Coombs Cove, Newfoundland, Canada to the late John J. and Bessie (Fiander) Vallis, Mary immigrated to the United States as a young child and completed her education in Chelsea. She devoted herself to homemaking and raising her three sons.
After spending 25 years in Revere, Mary returned to Chelsea. She was an active volunteer at the Chelsea Senior Center and remained engaged in her Admiral’s Hill community. Bingo, knitting and time with loved ones brought her joy. Those who knew her will remember her fondly.
Her first husband, Benjamin J. Robichaud, preceded her in death in 1969. She subsequently married John E. King, with whom she enjoyed 17 years together until his death in 1988. Mary leaves behind her son Thomas J. Robichaud of Tewksbury, her son Randall King of Peabody, and the memory of her late son John J. Robichaud. She was the sister of the late Alton Vallis, Matthew Vallis, Emma Levine, Meta Bradley, Catherine Vallis and Thomas Vallis. Five grandchildren survive her: Michael Robichaud, Jamey Robichaud, Randy King, Jaran Stallbaum and the late Justin King.
The Carafa Family Funeral Home, 389 Washington Ave., Chelsea will host a Memorial Service and celebration of Mary’s life on Wednesday, April 27 at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will run from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the service. Following the service, interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Relatives and friends are cordially invited.

Richard Paradis
Of Tewksbury, formerly of Chelsea
Richard Paradis of Tewksbury, formerly of Chelsea, died peacefully on April 17 following a brief illness, with his brother Mark and sister-in-law Lisa present.
Richard spent his career as a dispatcher and was passionate about sports and karaoke singing.
He was the son of the late John and Ann (Dion) Paradis of Chelsea and the loving brother of Mark and his wife Lisa (Gird) of Tewksbury, Kevin, Steven and his wife Michelle, John and his wife Lisa, and the late James. He was the loving fiancé of the late Debra Nolan. Several nieces, nephews and dear friends also survive him. Visiting hours at the Casper Funeral Home in South Boston will be held Thursday (today) from 2 to 5 p.m. Interment services will be private. Marion Niedbala
Of Chelsea
Marion (Page) Niedbala, who lived in Chelsea for many years, passed away late Monday evening, April 18 at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home. She was 89.
Over 25 years of her life were spent working as an assembler at Chelsea Clock. For more than 15 years, Marion resided at Admiral’s Towers on Admiral’s Hill, where she also worked in the apartment building store.
She was the devoted wife of the late Edmund Niedbala and the beloved mother of Carol Babb and her husband Robert of Chattanooga, TN and Margaret “Peggy” Austin and her friend Alan Pulisciano of Revere. She was the dear sister of Claire Giacobbee of Tewksbury and the late Leo, Joseph, Robert, Raymond, Richard, William, Edward, Barbara, Pauline and Dorothy. Marion was a cherished grandmother to Lisa Sexton of Knoxville, TN, Jason Babb of Savannah, GA and Justin Daly of Knoxville, TN, and is also survived by great-grandchildren Madison, Nolan and Carter as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, Chelsea on Saturday, April 23 at 10 a.m. Visiting hours at the Smith Funeral Home will take place on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden will be the site of interment. Mary Salvato
Gifted artist
Mary (Barbera) Salvato, who lived in Chelsea her entire life, passed away peacefully in her daughter’s arms on the morning of Sunday, April 3 at age 92.
Mary’s career included employment at Bank of Boston, and following her retirement she gave her time to the Chelsea Public Library as a volunteer. She was the last surviving child of Natale and Concetta Barbera, who immigrated to Chelsea from Messina, Sicily in 1924. Known for her wit, compassion and devotion to animals, Mary was an accomplished artist who also expressed herself through poetry and short stories.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law Gail Hayes of Foxboro, widow of Mary’s late son Kenneth Hayes, her daughter Linda Bussiere and son-in-law Mark Bussiere of Rindge, NH, grandson Anthony Bussiere of Los Angeles, CA and granddaughter Angela Bussiere of Rindge, NH. Many nieces and nephews will also cherish her memory.
A blessing, remembrance and liturgical ceremony will be held on Saturday, April 23 at St. Rose Church, 600 Broadway, Chelsea at 10:30 a.m. Services will conclude at the church.
