A native of San Miguel, El Salvador, Antonio Romero of Chelsea died on September 22 following a courageous battle with ALS.
Those who knew Antonio recognized him as an exceptionally diligent worker. He was employed at both Sweetheart Papers in Chelsea and CNC ITT Torques Systems Inc. He devoted himself to ensuring a bright future for his family, a commitment that defined his character.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Melva Romero; his beloved children Doris Romero and Antonio Romero, Jr., both of Chelsea; his mother, Donatila Romero; his siblings Alejandro Romero of Vancouver, Canada, Dora Alicia Romero de Sanchez of San Miguel, El Salvador, Oscar Romero of Chelsea, Saul Romero of San Salvador, Ever Romero and Jorge Romero, both of San Francisco Gotera, El Salvador, and Jenny Romero of Richmond, Virginia. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services took place at Iglesia Methodista Nueva Vida Church in Chelsea, with interment following at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. The Smith Funeral Home, Chelsea, handled arrangements. Condolences may be sent through www.smithfuneralhomes.com
Lena Holland
Her life was devoted to home and family
Lena M. (Golini) Holland of Revere died peacefully on Thursday morning, September 22. A serious illness diagnosed only 10 days prior led to her passing at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, where her family remained at her side. She was 87 years old. Remarkably, she passed on September 22, exactly six years to the day after her beloved late husband, Gene, died in 2010.
She was born in Everett and spent her youth in Chelsea, attending local schools. Before moving to Revere 45 years ago, Lena lived for many years in the Orange Street and Heard Street neighborhood. She was one of four children of the late Antonio and Marion Golini.
As a young woman and housemother, Lena worked as an assembler at the American Optical Eyeglass Factory in Chelsea to help support her family. She remained there through the 1950s, 1960s, and into the 1970s until the factory closed.
In 1981, she married Eugene A. Holland. The couple shared nearly 30 years of marriage until his death six years ago.
Lena’s existence centered on her family and home, particularly her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. She found joy in working puzzles and, during her final six years, made almost daily visits to her late husband’s grave before meeting her sister at a local Dunkin’ Donuts. Her independence was preserved in the home she cherished, thanks to the devoted care of her neighbor and guardian angel, Rubin.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Richard Golini and her twin, Fred Golini. Surviving her are her beloved and devoted daughter, Elena M. Crowe, and her husband, Brian, of Peabody; her cherished granddaughter, Michelle Marte, of Haverhill; her adored great-granddaughter, Victoria Marte, also of Haverhill; her dear sister, Nethia Cohen, of Everett; and her dear friend and neighbor, Rubin Vargas, of Revere.

Edward Louis Rosenzwaig of Chelsea passed away on September 21.
He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara (Glassberg) Rosenzwaig; devoted father of Jay Rosenzwaig of Everett and the late Michelle Schreibman and her husband, Nathaniel Schreibman; loving son of the late Harry and Ida (Firbein) Rosenzwaig; dear brother of Bernard and Sandra Rosenzwaig; loving grandfather of Brian Mathew Schreibman and Helena Rochelle Schreibman.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Torf Funeral Chapel, Chelsea. Interment took place at Linas Hazedeck Cemetery in Everett, with Memorial Observation held immediately following at Temple Emmanual.
