This summer, the elevator shaft and steel framework are rising above Chelsea as construction progresses on a new 124-room full service hotel at the Chelsea Line.
Currently under development at a vacant lot adjacent to Walgreen’s on Broadway near the Chelsea/Revere line, the Chelsea Broadway Hotel—which does not yet have its official name—is moving forward rapidly on the project.
Colwen and the XSS Group are behind this latest hotel development, which is expected to surpass the quality of earlier properties in the area, including the recently completed Homewood Suites across from Chelsea High School. Speculation exists regarding a restaurant component at the Broadway location with seasonal waterside seating, though this has not been officially confirmed.
The property provides views of Mill Creek and surrounding marshland—areas that have undergone significant environmental improvements over the past 10 years. Additionally, the hotel will serve as a key link in the pedestrian pathway connecting to Chelsea Commons Park.
The steel structure and elevator shaft are now prominently visible above Broadway as the building continues to take shape. According to Maureen Foley of Colwen Hotels, the Broadway Hotel will contain 124 rooms and is scheduled to welcome guests in late 2018.
Foley noted that prospective employees interested in job opportunities at this hotel or at Colwen’s other Chelsea properties can visit www.colwenhotels.com.
