On September 16, the Winter Hill Yacht Club will partner with Rotary members from Chelsea to host the 7th Annual Veteran’s Cruise.
Ken Webber, a Past President of Chelsea Rotary and member of the Winter Hill Yacht Club, noted that “It is important to recognize and pay tribute to the men and women in our community who have served our country and this is our way of doing just that”
Working alongside the Winter Hill Yacht Club, Rotary members have coordinated all aspects of this event. The day begins with Paul Revere Bus providing complimentary transportation for local veterans and Chelsea Soldiers Home residents to the yacht club for breakfast. Following the meal, participants board member-owned boats for a voyage through the locks, viewing the USS Constitution, and touring Boston Harbor. Back at the yacht club, attendees reconnect with friends old and new while enjoying a traditional BBQ prepared and served by yacht club volunteers.
Chelsea Rotary has demonstrated long-standing commitment to community service through numerous initiatives. The organization funds student scholarships, provides “Pantry of Necessities” for homeless students, raises awareness and resources to combat domestic violence and support survivors, and participates in a water project benefiting indigenous communities in Colombia.
Across the globe, Rotary members dedicate themselves to improving their communities. Members invest their time, resources, and commitment into projects that create lasting change—advancing peace, combating disease, ensuring access to clean water, supporting mothers and children, expanding educational opportunities, and strengthening local economies.
Polio eradication stands as Rotary’s primary global initiative. The organization introduced PolioPlus, its immunization program, in 1985 and joined the Global Polio Eradication Initiative as a principal partner in 1988.
