The Jordan Boys & Girls Club is pleased to recognize its October Members of the Month and Area All Stars. These members demonstrated exceptional qualities including helpfulness, kindness, and friendship to their peers. The honorees are as follows: 1st grade: Cristian Chicas; 2nd grade: Arwa Ait-Chaib; 3rd grade: Jainaba Kamara; 4th grade: Elmer Flores; Pre-Teen: Susana Garcia; Teen: Gino Gillis. Additionally, Area All Stars were recognized for outstanding contributions in their respective program areas. Schedule Changes: Please note that this Friday, October 26th, the CLUB IS CLOSED except for the Haunted House event detailed below. Transportation will not be provided on Friday, Oct. 26th.
Looking ahead to November, the Club will operate on November 12th from 9am-4pm (no school day due to Veteran’s Day). On Nov. 13th, the Club opens at 12noon due to a half day of school for CPS. Wednesday, Nov. 21st will see the Club open from 9am-4pm (no school day- day before Thanksgiving). The Club will be closed on Thanksgiving, Nov. 22nd, and Friday, Nov. 23rd. For those planning ahead, the Club will close during the winter holiday break from Dec. 24th through Jan 1st, reopening on Wednesday, Jan. 2nd.
Special Events: The Haunted House takes place this Friday, Oct. 26th, with tickets available until 6pm that evening. Those purchasing tickets in advance should arrive by 6pm, as doors close at 6pm regardless of ticket status. Club membership and attendance with an adult are required for entry. The Club recently hosted the Popping in Pink Party, an annual Breast Cancer Awareness event featuring pink-themed games, activities, music, and food celebrating survivors and families affected by breast cancer. Earlier this month, the Club also celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month through its annual Celebrando Latino event, which showcased family stories, country flags, and cultural food, games, and music. Chili’s generously donated chips and salsa for the celebration.
CLUB FUNDRAISERS: The Club’s Annual Online Auction will launch on Black Friday. Donations of all kinds are welcome and greatly appreciated, including sports memorabilia, unique experiences such as dinner with a politician or ball boy/girl positions at Celtics games, adventures like ski packages or airline tickets, and professional services including legal work, accounting, home-prepared dinners, event planning, music lessons, and cleaning services. Gift cards to retailers, restaurants, online vendors, movies, and theaters are also sought. Once the Auction launches, participants are encouraged to share the link widely. Raffle tickets will also be sold as part of this fundraising effort, available next month at the Club. Every contribution of dollars and hours supports the Club’s mission.
