YOU AIN’T GOIN’ NOWHERE
A CPD officer responded to 39 Crescent Ave. on Jan. 8 at 7:32 p.m. after a report of breaking and entering to a motor vehicle came in. The officers learned en route that the suspect was already being detained at the scene. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a witness who had held the suspect after observing him enter his friend’s vehicle. The stolen property was found on the arrested individual and subsequently returned to its owner.
Daniel Ghidella, 49, of 50 Kimball Rd., faced charges of breaking and entering a vehicle as a misdemeanor, as well as wanton destruction of property under $1,200.
KICKED WHEN DOWN
Officers were dispatched to 207 Shurtleff St., room 320, on Jan. 9 at 5:30 p.m. in response to a report of a past assault. Both the alleged victim and the individual in the apartment appeared intoxicated when officers arrived. According to the victim, an argument broke out inside the unit and resulted in him being kicked repeatedly while lying on the floor. The male subject was taken into custody.
Eric Roque, 41, of 207 Shurtleff St., was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (shod foot).
HEROIN AT THE WELFARE OFFICE
On Jan. 11 at 2:15 p.m., officers were called to the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) Office at 80 Everett Ave. regarding a female in possession of what appeared to be drugs. The armed security guard stationed at the DTA metal detector spoke with officers, noting that he discovered two baggies of what seemed to be drugs in the woman’s bag while investigating what had triggered the metal detector. The security officer handed over the two baggies containing a brownish white powdery substance to the officers, who believed it to be heroin. The woman was arrested without incident.
Lauren Powers, 34, of Saugus, was charged with possession of a Class A drug (heroin), subsequent offense.
