Dr. Jeffrey Benecchi, DMD, is continuing a family legacy in dentistry, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.
Although he could have pursued a career in environmental science, he chose a different path. He graduated from Bates College with a degree in environmental science and economics, but the influence of his father, John, a dentist, and his grandfather, Leo, a physician in Revere, guided him toward dentistry. He became a 2009 graduate of Tufts Dental School.
“I
think it’s in our family history. I always had it in me with my father being a
dentist,” Benecchi said from his office at 140 School St. He enjoys all aspects of the profession, from the practical, hands-on work to the personal connection with patients. His father, John, graduated from Tufts Dental School in 1976 and started his own practice a few years later.
Today, Jeffrey manages the practice alone, as his father retired at the end of last year. He has 10 employees, most of whom had previously worked for his father.
“He’s still says hi to everyone,” Jeffrey
said.
Jeffrey has always preferred working with his hands, and he found dentistry to be a natural fit. He appreciated being around patients and observing his father’s work. He preferred a hands-on approach over a corporate model of dentistry.
“I still like that personal touch,” he
added.
“It’s been a good job to help people and be
able to see things done with the artistry of dentistry,” Jeffrey said. “I like
everything there is to do with dentistry.”
The Benecchi dental practice offers general dentistry services to patients of all ages, from children to the elderly.
“Basically we offer what a lot of people
need to have done.” Jeffrey said.
Dr. Benecchi keeps up with the latest technology, using digital scanners to eliminate the need for goopy mouth molds during dental impressions.
Digital x-rays and cameras are also used, especially when working with a local laboratory for caps and crowns.
He mentioned that he will be adding a couple of associates to the practice to help manage the growing number of patients.
