Tonight, May 9, the Chelsea School Committee will hold a special meeting where they are expected to make an offer to one of three superintendent finalists, potentially bringing the search to a close.
Technically, the Committee’s role is limited to extending an offer to their preferred candidate. The selected individual must then accept the position, after which contract negotiations and ratification must occur before everything becomes final.
The three finalists are:
•Anthony Parker, principal of Weston High School.
•Ligia Noriega-Murphy, assistant superintendent of secondary schools for Boston Public Schools.
•Almudena Abeyta, assistant superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment with Somerville Public Schools.
Over the past two weeks, all three candidates have participated in an intensive schedule throughout Chelsea, including community forums and interviews with the School Committee.
The Committee will conduct final interviews on Thursday evening before convening to announce their decision.
