John DiCalogero Jr., a retired carpenter and karate instructor who lived in Chelsea, died on August 7, 2026. He was born in Revere.
Friends knew him for the jokes, the horseshoes and bocce games, and a habit of saying yes to anyone who needed a hand. His grandchildren, Sophia and Ella DiCalogero and Emma Florentino, were the center of his later years.
He leaves his son, John DiCalogero III and his wife Christina; his daughter, Jill Florentino; his siblings Anthony DiCalogero and his wife Cindy, Jean Farrell and her husband Robert, Lucille O’Connell, Elaine Ross and her husband Lada, and Edward DiCalogero and his wife Tina; and his cousin and closest friend, Anthony DiCalogero. His wife, Janet (Tirino) DiCalogero, his brother Vincent and his parents, John Sr. and Evelyn DiCalogero, died before him.
A memorial gathering was held August 29 at the Paul Buonfiglio and Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere Street, Revere, with a prayer service that afternoon.
