Chelsea Station Restaurant Bar & Lounge, in the old brick firehouse at 105 Everett Avenue, will close next week, the restaurant confirmed. The closing was first reported Thursday evening by the Chelsea Scanner account on X, which noted the restaurant opened on October 4, 2016. It is ending a 10-year run in one of the most recognizable buildings in the city.
A restaurant built around a firehouse
The restaurant describes itself as a “casual laid back restaurant in a historic firehouse,” serving lunch, dinner and weekend brunch with craft cocktails. Its sign out front shows crossed fire axes with the dates 1908 and 1973, the years of Chelsea’s two great fires. The building survived the 1973 fire, and the restaurant hosted the gathering for that fire’s 50th anniversary in October 2023, as we noted in our history of the fire.
It was also one of the few places in Chelsea big enough for a function. Its Facebook page still advertises holiday parties with “sit down dinners for up to 120 people,” cocktail parties for up to 200 and “free parking for well over 100 cars.” On October 1, it hosted the networking reception that closed the city’s Chelsea Development Tour with The Builder Coalition.
What we do not know yet
The restaurant has not posted an exact last day or a reason for closing on its Facebook page. It has not said what happens to holiday party bookings, gift cards or its staff, or what will become of the building. Anyone with a reservation should call the restaurant at 617-466-0754.
We will update this story with the last day and any word on the building’s future.
