Chelsea Students Place Third in Statewide Banking Bowl

Chelsea, Massachusetts

Students representing Metro Credit Union at Chelsea High School achieved third place finishes in both the Marketing Competition and the Product Development Competition at the Massachusetts School Association Spring Conference held recently. The Spring Conference, which took place at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, drew student teams from 24 financial institutions. At this annual MSBA event, student representatives sponsored by partner banks and credit unions compete in areas including credit, banking trivia, marketing, and the Federal Reserve System. Metro Credit Union maintains full-service branches at both Chelsea High School and Peabody Veterans Memorial High School. The Peabody High School team also participated in the competition, securing first place in the Marketing Competition and second place in the Banking Bowl Trivia Competition. “It was a great day for the students and we are very proud of their achievements,” stated Robert M. Cashman, President and CEO of Metro. “Metro’s in-school banking program is a unique opportunity for us to reach out to students in the community and provide a hands-on banking experience.  We hope this will spark an interest in pursing a career in financial services after the students graduate.” Mr. Cashman continued.

Metro Credit Union ranks among Massachusetts’s largest credit unions, holding over $800 million in assets and serving more than 120,000 members. Founded in 1926 and headquartered in Chelsea, the institution provides comprehensive financial services and products to consumers and businesses across eastern Massachusetts, including investment and insurance options. The credit union is also prominent in workplace banking, partnering with over 1,800 companies throughout the state.
