Daniel “Danny” Ferrara of Revere, a former Ward 4 Councillor who spent his whole life in the city and served it on boards for decades, died on Saturday, October 31. He was 82.

He was born in Boston on January 30, 1944, and lived in Revere from childhood on. His career was with American Airlines, where he rose to national regional manager for sales and marketing and won the company’s salesman of the year award more than once. It was at the airline, about 60 years ago, that he met his wife, Regina. They were married for 57 years.

He sat on the Revere City Council as the Ward 4 Councillor from 1978 to 1981 and served a term as Council President. Over the following years he worked with the Assessor’s Office, the Licensing Commission and the Zoning Board, served as Civil Defense Director, and for a time was the hearing officer for the Parking Department. The family describes him as the longest consecutively serving board member in the history of Revere City Hall.

He spent Friday nights in the fall at Revere High School football games and followed the BC Eagles and the Patriots. He kept his garden and lawn with the same care he brought to his work, and he was a member of the American Legion. His dogs were part of the family.

Besides his wife, Regina, he leaves his son, Michael Ferrara, and Michael’s wife, Sandra, of Methuen; his daughter, Christine Ferrara, and her boyfriend, Robert St. Jean, of Revere; his grandchildren, Sophia and Joey; and the family dog, Dolly, whom he called his granddog.
