Chelsea resident Tracy Syverain will appear on the popular
‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’ show this afternoon at 12:30
p.m. on WCVB. The 33-year-old resident said if she wins, she
will give most of the money to her mother.
This week, Chelsea High graduate and Chelsea resident Tracy Syverain was named as a contestant on the widely watched ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’ program, with her episode airing today on March 14th.
The episode featuring Syverain airs on WCVB Boston (ABC) Thursday, March 14th at 12:30 p.m.
Although specifics regarding whether Syverain actually won the million-dollar prize could not be disclosed before the broadcast, the 33-year-old Cottage Street resident revealed her plans if she were to win. She explained that she would donate the majority of her winnings to her mother.
“My mom is the love of my life,” she said. “She was a single mom, raising my siblings and I, while working two jobs seven days a week. Yet, she was always home in time to help us with our homework. After 30 years of working non-stop, I want to thank my mom by giving her most of my winnings.”
A 1997 CHS graduate, Syverain holds a degree in political science from UMass-Amherst and continues to live in Chelsea.
Around town, she has become recognizable for her hot pink motor scooter, which she calls ‘Cherry Darling.’ She rides it whenever she needs to handle errands in the area. Interestingly, the scooter also led her to romance—her boyfriend worked at the dealership where she purchased it.
Should she win on today’s broadcast, Syverain added that she would also use the money to pay off her student loans and pursue law school.
