Dream Come True

Chelsea, Massachusetts

Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island granted the wish of nine-year-old Izabella (Izzy) Barr from Chelsea to learn guitar. On May 9th, Izzy—who lives with Pulmonary Hypertension, a progressive heart and lung condition—took the stage at Berklee College of Music to perform her own live concert.

Performing alongside Izzy was her instructor Amanda Monaco from Berklee, with drummer Tim Merle and bassist Casey Anderson, both Berklee students, providing accompaniment. The performance featured six songs, among them “Let It Be” (which she performed with her grandfather), “Brown Eyed Girl,” and “Ring of Fire.” Family, friends, Berklee Guitar Department Chair Larry Baione, and Berklee President Roger H. Brown attended the concert.
