Last Wednesday and Thursday, Samsung Mobile brought several Chelsea High School students to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for a two-day mobile application academy. Among the participants was CHS’s Fernando Mazzoni, pictured here exchanging programming ideas. The program, which took place in six U.S. cities including Boston, gave students the opportunity to learn and develop their own mobile applications. Participants were also eligible for more than $30,000 in available scholarship funding. During the inaugural year of the initiative, Samsung presented a $20,000 award to an Arlington High School student whose application won—a tool that enabled volunteers to discover meaningful volunteer opportunities. At the academy, the Chelsea students attended presentations by Samsung computer programming professionals who shared insights into their careers and the paths they took to achieve their accomplishments.
