The election held on Tuesday delivered several unexpected results that will reshape the political landscape at city hall moving forward. In the race for Councillor at Large, Calvin Brown made a successful comeback, securing the top position on the ballot. Leo Robinson placed second, while Roseann Bongiovanni finished third. The results marked the end of Stanley Troisi’s lengthy and prominent political career, as he failed to secure a seat. In District One, newcomer Kathleen Cronin Bishop defeated Richard Pantano for the councillor’s seat with a vote count of 338-236. Bishop is the daughter of former Alderman Robert Bishop, who currently serves as Chelsea’s city clerk. District Three saw Richard Moronski, a lifelong Chelsea resident with strong community ties, defeat Norieliz DeJesus 232-124. Write-in candidate Carlos Rodriguez received 46 votes in that race. Council President Brian Hatleberg won District Five over Henry Wilson by a margin of 118-60. In District Six, Marilyn Vega–Torres prevailed against Guiseppe Recupero, 87-62; Recupero had run for office two years prior. Attorney Anthony Pellegrino won District Seven, besting long-time Chelsea political figure Deborah Washington, 144-115. Write-in candidate Clifford Cunningham garnered 8 votes in that contest.
School Committee races proceeded without competitive opposition. At Large School Committeeman Morrie Seigal received 1693 votes. District One School Committeewoman Rosemarie Carlisle obtained 449 votes, while District Two SC member Michael Caulfield received 159. District Three SC member Melinda Alvarado-Vega got 295 votes, and District Four SC member Lucia Colon scored 107 votes. District 6 SC member Ana Hernandez received 106 votes. In District 7 and District 8, SC members Ramona Foster and Edward Ells received 192 votes and 239 votes, respectively.
