Congressman Mike Capuano’s strongest showing came in Chelsea, where voters backed him decisively even as he fell short across most other areas. At the Fairmont-Copley Plaza on Tuesday night, Capuano offered concession remarks in which he said he was humbled by the support he received from his friends. Throughout Suffolk County and in Chelsea specifically, his supporters voted for Mike and held out hope for an unlikely turnaround. That breakthrough never came, leaving Capuano to return to Congress while Martha Coakley advances to the general election as the Democratic nominee for United States Senator.
