The 7th Annual Taste of Chelsea will take place on Monday, September 20 from 5 to 8 p.m. at 62 Broadway in Chelsea, with advance tickets currently available for purchase. Since 2004, the Chelsea Chamber of Commerce has worked alongside HarborCOV and numerous local and regional food businesses to organize this event, which celebrates the area’s dining scene while raising awareness about domestic violence and its effects on Chelsea residents and families. The previous year’s event proved highly successful, generating nearly $50,000 in proceeds that went entirely to support HarborCOV’s groundbreaking initiatives aimed at breaking cycles of abuse and mobilizing the community against domestic violence. This collaboration between a community-based organization and local service providers demonstrates the power of working together toward meaningful change. Drawing crowds for its combination of excellent cuisine and the unique venue—a Massport facility (currently managed by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation) situated beneath the Tobin Bridge—the event has expanded significantly to feature more than 40 local sponsors and restaurants. Since its founding in 1988, HarborCOV has empowered domestic violence survivors to take charge of their futures. Over the past 22 years, the organization has established itself as a national leader in innovative programming and has assisted nearly 40,000 victims and families in rebuilding their lives. The organization provides comprehensive support including safety planning, emergency housing, legal advocacy, job training, college preparation, health and wellness services, and affordable housing options.
