Senator Scott Brown made his first visit to Chelsea on Tuesday morning, attending the Veterans Day ceremony held at the Chelsea Soldier’s Home. The well-attended event brought together hundreds of veterans, Soldiers Home staff, and local residents, with Brown serving as the guest of honor. Joining him on the auditorium podium were Soldiers Home Commandant Mike Resca, Representatives Gene O’Flaherty and Kathi Anne Reinstein, State Senator Sal DiDomenico, and City Manager Jxay Ash. Brown offered brief remarks that were warmly received, during which he commended the veterans, the home, and all those responsible for organizing the ceremony.
The auditorium featured the Soldiers Home Color Guard positioned along the western side with American flags, while the Chelsea High School Choral Group performed from the eastern side. The Chelsea High School Band took the stage at the front, and an ROTC youth unit from East Boston also participated in the proceedings. Among those in attendance were numerous veterans of varying ages and circumstances—some in wheelchairs, others on crutches, and some bearing visible injuries—all carefully attended to by Soldiers Home staff members.
Brown arrived in his distinctive pickup truck and remained throughout the speeches and musical performances. He engaged with attendees by answering questions and greeting people as he made his way through the crowd before departing for his next engagement. The ceremony concluded with a buffet luncheon for attendees.
