Homegoods Opens with Large Crowd

Chelsea, Massachusetts

Liz Joyce, a Chelsea resident, discovered items she was looking for during the grand opening of HomeGoods at Demoulas’s Mall on Sunday. The new location drew substantial crowds throughout the day as shoppers took advantage of traditional retail offerings. “This is one more sure sign that we are moving ahead with development plans that will change this mall in the years to come,” remarked City Manager Jay Ash. “HomeGoods has put together a great looking store,” he continued. The store is expected to generate nearly 80 positions for Chelsea residents. This opening represents a significant milestone for the city, marking the arrival of a major retailer specializing in home furnishings and décor. The 25,000 square foot facility operates under T.J. Maxx ownership and falls within the TJX Companies portfolio. The Greater Boston area now hosts 27 HomeGoods locations. To attract customers, HomeGoods introduced a rewards card program at the Chelsea location. The store’s inventory includes rugs, furniture, accessories, plates, lamps, bathroom necessities, blankets and a comprehensive selection of home goods.
