The Chelsea High girls track & field team continues to deliver strong team and individual performances throughout the 2011 season. With recent victories over Greater Lawrence (130-6), Presentation of Mary Academy (100-36), and Whittier Tech (80-54), the Lady Red Devils have improved their record to 5-0. “The girls are improving and gaining confidence,” said CHS head coach Kim Huffer. “It’s exciting to watch many of the girls continue to achieve personal bests in their events.” According to Huffer, the team has benefited from strong contributions across the roster. Approximately 25 girls have been adding to the point totals in these recent wins. At last week’s meet against Greater Lawrence, Chelsea dominated nearly every event, with only the long jump and 200 meter dash eluding their control. Shuly Sejour emerged as a double winner in the high jump and 100 hurdles, while placing second in both the 200 meter dash and long jump to contribute 16 points to the CHS total. Thien-Ly Che captured first place in the triple jump and earned two third-place finishes in the 100 and 400 hurdles. Mursal Hassan took first in the 400 hurdles and was part of the winning 4
