The sentencing of Michael McLaughlin, who previously served as director of the Chelsea Housing Authority, has been delayed by more than a month.
A May 14th sentencing date in Federal Court before Judge Douglas Woodlock was originally scheduled for McLaughlin. However, his Boston-based attorney, Thomas Hoopes, raised a scheduling issue last week.
Hoopes explained that he has a conflicting trial commitment at New Hampshire Federal Court on May 14th. He asked the court to postpone McLaughlin’s sentencing by 60 days to resolve this conflict.
While U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz recognized the scheduling conflict, she advocated for an earlier date than requested.
McLaughlin’s sentencing is now scheduled to take place sometime during the week beginning June 24th.
