Friday night in Saugus.

Throughout its history in Chelsea, the Zonta Club of Chelsea has demonstrated commitment to improving women’s status through numerous local initiatives. The organization provides funding to community projects, awards scholarships and school supplies to students, and delivers food baskets during holiday seasons. Its charitable work and goodwill reach beyond Chelsea’s boundaries, creating an international impact.

Fundraising events form the backbone of the Zontians’ efforts to advance their mission. Over the years, the club has organized fashion shows, comedy nights, and various other events to support their causes.

This Friday night’s fundraiser represents a distinctive departure from typical events. Medium Linnea Star will deliver metaphysical messages at the gathering, which takes place at 7 p.m. at the Saugus Elks. Attendees will contribute $35, which covers both a medium-ship session and a Chinese food buffet.

The event’s chairwomen, Renee Caso-Griffin and Saveria Bosak, conceived the idea of featuring a medium as the centerpiece of this fundraiser.

Zonta president Georgia Green remarked, “They originated the idea,” “The medium (Star) will read people who want to be read. It’s a gift that she feels that she’s always had – she can tell you things about people in your family. She comes up with some pretty remarkable data without knowing you.”

Green is in her first year of a two-year term leading the Zonta Club. She earned a graduate degree from Smith College and has worked as a social worker at MGH Chelsea for 25 years.

According to Green, “a fabulous event” awaits those attending the Friday night event with Linnea Star.

“I think it’s going to be really different – we’ve never done anything like this and we were looking for something that would be fun. It will be a great night out.”
