Fun in the Sun Starts June 29th as Pool Finally Opens

Chelsea, Massachusetts

This summer, the Vietnam Veterans Pool will be among the first State pools to welcome swimmers, thanks to the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR).

Rep. Eugene O’Flaherty, a key advocate for the facility, noted that “It continues to be a top priority to get our pool open and keep it open for as long as possible,”

Beginning Saturday, June 29th, the pool will serve the community through Labor Day. Daily operations will run from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., subject to weather conditions.

City Manager Jay Ash emphasized that “I’d encourage everyone to enjoy the tremendous experience only a pool can bring,” He also urged residents and parents in particular to take responsibility for maintaining the pool area and keeping it free of litter throughout the season. “I’m so grateful to have this community resource and so appreciative of DCR and our legislative delegation for all they do to fund its continuing operation.”

The DCR facility sits adjacent to Chelsea High School.
