Months of preparation went into the effort to reconnect with former Chelsea students and organize another Chelsea Grand Reunion.
Organizers initially anticipated drawing somewhere in the range of 300-500 attendees to the gathering.
However, those making such projections had not fully reckoned with Herbie Kupersmith, whose diverse abilities include a remarkable talent for orchestrating events.
His previous work with the Walnut Street Synagogue and the old Chelsea Y.M.H.A. has already demonstrated this capability.
Through collaboration with a dedicated committee that held meetings, placed numerous phone calls, and distributed emails, Herbie reports that over 800 Chelsea residents will attend Saturday’s event at the high school to revisit cherished memories.
The occasion promises to be polished and successful, reflecting the standards Herbie has maintained throughout his life.
Most attendees have relocated away from Chelsea, yet they retain fond recollections of the city during the 1940s, ’50s, and ’60s.
Following months of committed work by chairman Herbie Kupersmith and committee members devoted to Chelsea and its legacy, more than 800 people will have the opportunity Saturday night to step back in time for several hours and reconnect with a treasured period from their years in the city they once called home.
