Frank DePatto, Athletic Director at Chelsea High School, and Robert Bradley, Executive Director of Chelsea Community Cable Television, are preparing to establish a new organization dedicated to preserving the legacy of honoring distinguished CHS athletes and alumni.
Chelsea councilor-at-large Leo Robinson has indicated his intention to participate in the inaugural meeting, which is planned for Feb. 17. Robinson, along with DePatto and Bradley, served as founding members of the Chelsea Varsity Club, which previously organized induction ceremonies for the Chelsea High School Hall of Fame.
The CHS Hall of Fame has recognized many of the school’s most celebrated athletes over the years. Among the inductees are Saul Nechtem, Paul “Choc” Glazer, Anthony “Chubby” Tiro, Lew Perkins, Bobby Spinney, Craig Walker, Tina Rizzo, Linda Lush, Kristin Rosa, and Kim Lanzillo. The late Arnold Goodman played a crucial role in establishing the Hall of Fame’s success.
Under DePatto’s leadership, the long-time athletic director and the new board members will evaluate prospective candidates and determine the next cohort of individuals to be honored for their accomplishments.
The efforts by Frank DePatto and Robert Bradley to revive this important tradition merit recognition. The community anticipates the announcement of CHS alumni whose exceptional achievements both in athletics and professional life will receive acknowledgment at an upcoming awards ceremony.
Selecting a new name for the organization will be among the primary items on the agenda when the group convenes on Feb. 17.
