Chelsea High’s basketball team defeated Commonwealth Athletic Conference opponent North Shore Tech 57-41 on Friday, dominating throughout the game.
The Red Devils maintained control from beginning to end, establishing a 15-12 lead after the first quarter and extending it to 28-21 by halftime. By the end of the third quarter, Chelsea had stretched its advantage to 13 points at 44-31, then pushed the margin as high as 25 points in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
Four Chelsea players scored in double figures in the balanced offensive effort: Oscar Sabillon contributed 13 points, Eric Flores added 12, Faisal Nasimi scored 12 (including four three-pointers), and Victor Corrales chipped in 10. Eric Fernandez and Albie Alicea each provided four points, while Carlos Vega scored two.
The Red Devils encountered tougher results against non-league opponents Revere and Lexington. A Wednesday’s game at archival Revere proved competitive early, with the home team leading 20-12 after one quarter and holding a 33-25 edge entering the final period.
Chelsea fought back to within five points with seconds remaining in the third quarter, but a Revere inbounds pass followed by a three-pointer at the buzzer extended the home team’s lead to eight and provided crucial momentum heading into the final period. The Red Devils could not recover, ultimately losing 53-37.
Saturday’s makeup game at Lexington presented similar challenges, as the Red Devils kept pace with the larger opponent through the first half. Trailing just 24-20 at the break, Chelsea scored the first basket after intermission to cut the deficit to 24-22. Lexington responded by exploiting its size advantage inside, building a commanding 43-26 lead by the end of the third quarter. The final score favored Lexington 54-38.

With a 7-8 record, Seigal’s team faces a demanding schedule featuring four games in five days. The Red Devils travel to Shawsheen Tech Friday night, then host Lexington Saturday at 7:00, welcome Lynn Tech Monday at 5:00, and entertain Whittier Tech Tuesday at 5:00. Next Friday, Chelsea will complete its regular season at home against Greater Lowell in a game featuring Senior Night celebrations.
Chelsea needs to win three of its five remaining games to secure a state tournament berth.
