Teen Reportedly Shot on Central Ave

Chelsea, Massachusetts

A 16-year-old boy sustained a hand wound in a shooting on Central Avenue on Tuesday afternoon, according to multiple accounts from the scene. This marks at least the second such daylight shooting incident reported this summer.

As of Wednesday press time, neither Chelsea Police nor the District Attorney’s Office had officially confirmed the shooting.

The incident allegedly occurred around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Central Avenue and Shawmut Street, where the teenager was reportedly located when shot.

Unconfirmed reports suggested that authorities may have taken at least one suspect into custody shortly following the shooting.

The shooting comes on the heels of a previous incident last week in which occupants of a vehicle allegedly fired upon a parked car on Congress Street near Hawthorne.

Police had not verified that earlier incident by the time of this report’s deadline.
