Josephine Czap
Of Maine, formerly of Chelsea; member of Legion of Honor Society of Polish Falcons and Holy Rosary Society
A Chelsea native who later moved to Garland, Maine, Josephine (Liniecka) Czap passed away on July 11.
Throughout her life, Josephine maintained strong ties to Chelsea, where she was born and raised. Her education included St. Stanislaus, Williams and Chelsea High Schools. She spent a considerable portion of her career with the Knight Leather Company in Boston and Jamaica Plain. When her husband fell ill, she transitioned to Kayem Foods, where she eventually retired. Active in her faith community, Josephine held membership in both the Holy Rosary Society and served as a Legion of Honor member of the Polish Falcons of America.
She is survived by her children Christine Avery and her husband Wayne of Garland, Maine and Frank S. Czap of Aurora, Colorado, along with grandchildren Bryan and Matthew and great-grandchild Jason Czap. Her late husband was Franciszek Czap.

Lorraine Kennedy
Former Instructor at Shore Collaborative; devoted to her children, grandchildren
and many friends
On July 12, lifelong Chelsea resident Lorraine A. (Cook) Kennedy died at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston at age 77.
Her professional life included more than nine years of work as an instructor with Shore Collaborative. Above all else, Lorraine cherished her relationships with her children, grandchildren and the many friends she made throughout her life.
She leaves behind her children James Smallwood and his wife Debbie of Winthrop, William Smallwood of Chelsea and Patrick Smallwood of Saugus. She was the sister of the late Irene Noveska, Janet Reardon and Richard Cook. Her grandchildren include James Repici and his wife Linda of Saugus, William Patrick Smallwood of Chelsea, Nicholas Smallwood of Easton, and Christopher Patrick Smallwood, Ryan Michael Smallwood and Paul Griffin, all of Saugus. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Christina and Rocco Repici, Autumn Smallwood and Paul Griffin, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Rose Church, 601 Broadway, Chelsea at 10 o’clock today, Thursday, July 16, preceded by services from the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, Chelsea at 9 a.m. Family and friends are invited to attend. Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett will conclude the services with interment.

Anthony Caputo, Jr.
Retired garment industry presser;
lifelong Chelsea resident
Born in Chelsea to the late Anthony and Mary (DePatto) Caputo, Anthony F. Caputo, Jr. was a longtime resident who died suddenly on July 11 at Whidden Memorial Hospital.
For 57 years he was married to Virginia (Olivero). He is survived by his four children: Anthony and his wife Debra of North Andover, Robert and his wife Lisa of Acton, Maria Campbell and her husband Walter of Revere, and David and his wife Renée of Topsfield. His siblings include Angie DeStasio of New Hampshire and Viola Bouffa of Chelsea. Eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.
Today, Thursday, July 16, a Funeral will begin at the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St., Revere at 10 a.m., with a Funeral Mass following at St. Anthony’s Church at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Paul Peter Nardone
Retired floor installer
At age 96, Paul Peter Nardone passed away on July 12 at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center in Revere.
Chelsea-born and raised, Paul was the son of the late Gaetano and Maria (Iabino) Nardone. He attended Chelsea Public Schools and remained a lifelong resident of the city before relocating to the Lighthouse Nursing Center.
A floor installer by trade, Paul worked at Beacon Carpet Co. in Newton Center and the former R.H. Whites of Boston, with a career spanning 50 years until his 1983 retirement.
Paul’s wife was the late Edith L. (Bernard) Nardone. He is survived by his son Robert P. Nardone and his wife Aggie of Chelsea, as well as one granddaughter, Robyn Arruda and her husband Eddie of Georgetown. Two great-grandchildren also survive him: Cameron Nickell and his wife Caitlin of Chelsea and Chloe Arruda of Georgetown. He was preceded in death by his children Richard J. and Paula M. Nardone and his siblings Alexander Nardone, Susan “Susie” Nardone, Isabelle Engle and Clementina Pierotti.
Today, Thursday, July 16, visiting hours at the Carafa Family Funeral Home, 389 Washington Ave., Chelsea will run from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church, 59 Nichols St., Chelsea at 12:30 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden will be the site of interment.

Albert Zakrzewski, Jr.
Past Exalted Ruler of Chelsea Elks; member of Chelsea DAV, PAV, American Legion and Chelsea Senior Center
On July 12, Albert R. Zakrzewski, Jr., a longtime Chelsea resident, died at Massachusetts General Hospital at age 86.
For over 20 years he worked as a shipwright at the Charlestown Navy Yard before moving into security work for more than 10 years, serving 1st National Bank and then Fleet Bank. Known as an avid traveler to Bermuda, Albert served as a sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He held active memberships in the Chelsea Lodge of Elks where he served as past Exalted Ruler, the American Legion, PAV and DAV, and was also a member of the Chelsea Senior Center.
His late wife was Anne C. (Rae). He leaves his daughters Rose Ellen Zakrzewski of Chelsea, Janice Hudson and her husband Paul of Chelsea, and the late Karen Lindquist whose surviving husband Phillip resides in Florida. His siblings, Joseph Zakrzewski and Anna Williams, predeceased him. Two grandchildren survive: Hunter and Hayley Lindquist, both of Florida.
A funeral will be held from the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, Chelsea on Saturday, July 18 at 8:30 a.m., with a Funeral Mass at St. Stanislaus Church, 163 Chestnut St., Chelsea at 9:30 a.m. Family and friends are invited. Visiting hours at the Smith Funeral Home will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden will conclude the services.
