A piercing sound echoes through the sanctuary as the Great Shofar is blown, followed by a still, small voice. These words from the High Holy Days liturgy perhaps best express the significance of the Days of Awe that lie ahead. Through the Shofar’s call, both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur beckon the faithful to strengthen their bonds with God and with themselves.
Members of the Chelsea Jewish community are being invited to witness the sounding of the Great Shofar as the congregation prepares for the arrival of New Year 5776. Temple Emmanuel urges all to participate in hearing this sacred call. The congregation extends wishes of Shanah Tovah—a joyous and healthy new year—to everyone in the community.
