BEAT WITH METAL OBJECT
A Chelsea Police officer responded to headquarters on July 16 following a report of an assault that had already occurred. The victim provided an account of the incident to the officer. According to his statement, he was near the intersection of Clark Avenue and Eleanor Street when a male acquaintance approached him, picked up a metal object, and struck him multiple times—hitting his left chest and left upper arm.
The suspect was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.
Vidal Flores, 49, of 248 Parkway, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and malicious damage to a motor vehicle.
ASSAULTED PREGNANT WOMAN
On July 19, a CPD officer was approached by a pregnant woman who reported that she had been assaulted by a male and female. She identified both individuals to the officer, who recognized them.
The victim stated, “They jumped me.” The female suspect was arrested, while the male was issued a court summons for the assault.
The victim was approximately eight months pregnant at the time.
Diane Valentin, 27, of 10 Forsyth St., was charged with aggravated assault and battery on a pregnant person.
BOTHERING FAMILY
On July 18, a male resident approached a CPD officer and explained that he had encountered a group of males in his backyard. These men were drinking beer in the rear yard of a Shurtleff Street property and were harassing him and his young daughter. The resident led the officer to the location, where the officer observed a male he knew well standing in the driveway with his pants down, preparing to urinate.
The officer arrested the subject for trespassing. A warrant check indicated the subject was wanted by Immigration and Customs officials.
Rudis Garcia, 45, of Lynn, was charged with trespassing and an immigration detainer.
ROBBED ON BROADWAY
On July 23, officers arrived at Washington Avenue and Cherry Street to assist a State Trooper who was detaining two males. The Trooper explained that a witness had flagged him down reporting that their friend had been robbed and assaulted by two unknown males in front of Chung Wah Restaurant in Bellingham Square.
The Trooper had located the two suspects at the corner of Washington Avenue and Cherry Street.
CPD officers continued the investigation and arrested both individuals for unarmed robbery and assault and battery.
A warrant check revealed that one subject was wanted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.
Alberto Hurtado, 43, of 18 Tudor St., was charged with unarmed robbery and an immigration detainer.
Raul Romero, 33, of 4 Webster Ct., was charged with unarmed robbery.
ATTACKED WITH A CHAIR
On July 21, officers were called to 12 Hawthorne St. for a disturbance involving two individuals engaged in a physical fight. After separating the parties and interviewing witnesses, officers discovered that one of the individuals had an outstanding arrest warrant and was taken into custody. The investigation also revealed that this person had attacked two other individuals with a chair.
Jorge Ruiz, 49, of Lynn, was charged with possession of a Class A drug, one warrant and two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.
BUSTED FOR CRACK
On July 20, CPD drug and vice unit officers arrested two individuals after observing them conduct a crack cocaine transaction in the area of 78 Watts St.
Andrew Babigumira, 31, homeless, was charged with distribution of a Class B drug (crack) and conspiracy.
Cesar Gomez, 32, of East Boston, was charged with possession of a Class B drug (crack) and conspiracy.
