Chelsea’s early voting period leading up to the Nov. 6 election has experienced modest participation, though residents have been utilizing the new voting opportunities available to them.
According to City Clerk Jeannette Cintron White, the period from Monday, Oct. 22, through Monday, Oct. 29, drew 298 voters in total.
While the initial week attracted 190 voters, White noted that during the 2016 early voting period, voter turnout was concentrated in the second week rather than the first.
Saturday voting occurred for the first time this year, but the Nor’Easter that swept through the area limited participation to just 50 voters.
The City has 16,828 registered voters eligible to cast ballots in the Nov. 6 State Election.
