Located on upper Broadway beside Mill Creek, the new Holiday Inn is demonstrating robust occupancy figures and represents another thriving asset within the Chelsea-based Colwen Management hotel portfolio.
Sales Manager Joe Fiorello, General Manager Luziane Cavalcanti and Front Desk Clerk Carlota Dalomba gather at the front desk of the new Holiday Inn on Mill Creek. The new property opened about four months ago, but will have its official grand opening next week. It represents the fifth property for the Colwen Management company in Chelsea.
“We’re almost at 100 percent full occupancy for October,” explained Joe Fiorello, director of sales for Colwen. “We’re really excited about that.”
The property’s official opening occurred on July 25.
This 124-room, full-service hotel marks Colwen’s fourth property in Chelsea, representing more than 500 rooms added to their portfolio since the Residence Inn, their original property, became operational several years ago.
A grand opening celebration is scheduled for November 8 at the new Holiday Inn.
Colwen’s Chelsea holdings now include the Residence Inn, TownePlace Suites, Holiday Inn and Homewood Suites. Their broader portfolio extends across Greater Boston with the AC Hotel in Boston’s South End and a recently opened property at Assembly Row.
The property maintains the design excellence characteristic of Colwen’s portfolio, featuring distinctive lighting and abundant natural illumination throughout.
A spacious sitting area with a fireplace anchors the foyer.
As a full-service establishment, Fiorello noted that complimentary breakfast is not offered. Instead, guests have access to a European-inspired breakfast buffet and à la carte options. An on-site full restaurant and bar serves the property, which Fiorello indicated should appeal to Chelsea and Revere residents. The menu features popular offerings including steaks, lobster rolls, salmon and other selections.
“We are under the umbrella of IHG, but we are owned and operated by Colwen Hotels,” he stated. “IHG wants to use this property as a prototype hotel. When other owners come into town, they said they want to bring them here to show them the property as an example for all future builds. Colwen is very good at managing, designing and operating.”
While suites are not available as in other Colwen properties, the rooms are generously sized with views of either the marsh or the City. Each room includes smart TVs and luxury bath amenities. The building holds LEED certification.
A function space accommodating 60-80 people is available for small meetings and events, with the ability to divide the space in half. This venue is known as the Mill Creek Ballroom.
