Chelsea Collaborative Creating Pathways to Rewarding Encore Boston Harbor Careers

Chelsea, Massachusetts

Staff members at Chelsea Collaborative are working to prepare residents for career opportunities at Encore Boston Harbor, which is scheduled to open in Everett this June. The first five-star urban gaming resort in the U.S., Encore Boston Harbor expects to hire more than 5,000 workers across various hospitality positions. Interested applicants can find additional details at encorebostonjobs.com.

Over 175 job seekers have taken part in recent workshops focused on resume development and creating a Skillsmart profile. The Skillsmart portal connects individuals’ qualifications and interests to available positions at Encore Boston Harbor. “We are proud to create pathways
to better paying positions, so our residents can achieve better economic
mobility, and don’t have to work two jobs just to make ends meet for them and
their families,” explained Sylvia Ramirez, who serves as Workforce Development Manager at Chelsea Collaborative.

As part of Encore Boston Harbor’s community action network, Chelsea Collaborative benefits from the resort’s commitment to invest $10 million over four years in social programs and civic institutions serving local communities and residents in need.

The Chelsea 500 coalition, led by Chelsea Collaborative, aims to unite the City, businesses, and local non-profits in developing a workforce pipeline. The initiative seeks to equip 500 or more residents with the skills and resources to pursue positions at Encore Boston Harbor. Beyond capitalizing on the casino’s opening, Chelsea 500 intends to strengthen local workforce development infrastructure, improve employment prospects for Chelsea residents, and work alongside industry partners to expand employment options. The coalition brings together the City of Chelsea, Chelsea Collaborative, TND/Connect, Chelsea Housing Authority, Chelsea Recreation and Cultural Affairs Division, Bunker Hill Community College, and Casino Action Network.
