Three Chelsea Jewish Residences Awarded CMS Five-Star Rating

Chelsea, Massachusetts

Chelsea Jewish Lifecare (CJL) has achieved a significant milestone, with three of its skilled nursing facilities earning the prestigious Five-Star Quality Rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for the second year in a row.

This highest-tier designation is awarded to only a select number of nursing homes across the country.

“We are pleased that all our skilled nursing
residences have once again been recognized as being among the top nursing homes
not only in Massachusetts, but throughout the country,” says Adam Berman, President of Chelsea Jewish Lifecare. “Earning this Five-Star designation is a
testament to our skilled and
compassionate staff, our strong commitment to excellence and our
dedication as an organization to provide the highest caliber of care possible.”

The three CJL facilities receiving this recognition are the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home located in Chelsea; the Jeffrey and Susan Brudnick Center for Living in Peabody; and the Leonard Florence Center for Living in Chelsea, which operates as the nation’s first urban Green House skilled nursing facility model.

Both short-term rehabilitation and long-term comprehensive care services are provided at these residences.

The five-star rating process evaluates nursing homes across three distinct criteria. First, health inspections assess facilities based on three years of onsite inspection data, encompassing standard and complaint-based surveys. Second, staffing levels are evaluated, measuring the average daily hours of care delivered to each resident by nursing and healthcare personnel. Third, quality measures are examined, reflecting how effectively nursing homes address residents’ physical and clinical needs.

The five-star rating system has become an essential resource for consumers evaluating skilled nursing facility quality and performance. Facilities earning five stars demonstrate well above-average quality standards.

According to Berman, “In reality, we work very hard, day in and day out, to achieve and
maintain these five-star ratings. We are so proud of our staff at each of the three
residences.”
