Anthony R. Candelora Sr., who grew up in Revere and will be remembered there Thursday with a funeral Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church, died October 4 with his family around him. He was 84 and had been living in Londonderry, New Hampshire.

He was born July 26, 1942, to the late Salvino Candelora and Mary (Martocchio) Candelora. He was married for 54 years to the late Rosemarie J. (Melanson) Candelora. His family remembers a man known for his jokes and his generosity, who loved old cars, a day at the horse track and the New England Patriots, and who worked hard for the people he loved.

He leaves his daughter, Kris-Ann Amato, and her husband, Alan, of Pelham, New Hampshire; his sons Anthony R. Candelora Jr. and his wife, Jill, and Michael A. Candelora Sr. and his wife, Darlene, all of Manchester, New Hampshire; and his grandsons Michael A. Candelora Jr. of Swampscott and Christopher M. Candelora of Manchester. His brother, Salvino Candelora, still lives in Revere. His sister Florence Bilardi died before him. Nieces and nephews also survive him.

Visiting hours are Thursday, October 8, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons Funeral Home, 128 Revere Street, Revere, followed by the 11 a.m. Mass at St. Anthony of Padua. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family’s online guest book is at buonfiglio.com.
