Josephine Blago
Fifth Grade Teacher at St. Stanislaus School for Many Years
At age 95, Josephine (Czyzon) Blago of Maine, who had lived in Chelsea for much of her life, died on February 16 at Southern Maine Medical Center following a short illness.
A Chelsea native and daughter of the late Michael Kolondovitz and Stefania (Czyzon), Josephine attended St. Stanislaus Elementary School and graduated from Chelsea High School before moving to Maine in recent years. For an extended period, she served as a beloved and respected fifth grade teacher at St. Stanislaus Parochial School in Chelsea. Her memberships included the Polish Falcons, Nest 485 in Chelsea and the former St. Stanislaus Holy Rosary Society.
She leaves behind her devoted daughter Stephanie Whiting and son-in-law Al of Maine, as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews. Her brother Charles Cizon predeceased her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place today, Thursday, February 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church, 163 Chestnut St., Chelsea, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Lucy Zbikowski
Of Chelsea
Lucy A. (Malachowski) Zbikowski of Chelsea died on February 14 at Lighthouse Nursing Care Center in Revere, where she was receiving care during her illness. She was 80 years old.
A Spencer native, Lucy was the devoted wife of the late Richard S. Zbikowski and the beloved mother of Richard Zbikowski of North Reading, Kathleen Allen and her husband Robert of Ashburnham, Lucy Zbikowski of Chelsea, and Susan Zbikowski of Seattle, WA. She was the daughter of the late Steven and Jennie (Stankiewicz) Malachowski and the loving sister of the late Marion Suida, Joseph Malachowski, Caroline Burke, and Steven and Edward Malachowski. She is also remembered as the cherished grandmother of Nicholas and Jennifer Allen and Jake Zbikowski, and is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held today, Thursday, February 20 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter Street, North Reading. Attendees are asked to proceed directly to the church. Aubrey Frederick French
Formerly of Chelsea, of Florida
On February 3, Aubrey Frederick French passed away peacefully in Port Orange, Florida following his brave battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Throughout his career, he worked as a driver for Canada Dry Corp., operated a convenience store in Billerica, and spent many years as a driver for Puralator Corp. He also delivered the Union Leader newspaper for 20 years before his final position as a maintenance tech with the Port Orange, Florida school system, from which he eventually retired.
A devoted sports enthusiast, Aubrey particularly enjoyed following the Patriots, Celtics, Bruins, and Boston Red Sox. He was passionate about outdoor activities and spent cherished time swimming and boating with his children at his second home in Alton, NH.
Known as a family-oriented man and loving husband and father, he will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
Born January 15, 1934 in Chelsea, Aubrey was the son of the late Ada and Cyril French. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary (Coppla) French, and three children: Dennis French and Donna Cyr of Derry, NH, Scott French and his wife Roxanne of Hooksett, NH, and Paula Hewitt and her husband Ray of Manchester, NH. He also leaves three grandchildren: Nicole, Kiera, and Jonathan French, as well as his brother Walter Cyril French and his wife Peggy, and his sisters Stella Larcome and Irene Poliatti. He was preceded in death by his brothers Jack French and William French.
A private family service will be scheduled for a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Aubrey may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Marlene Iacoviello
Of Everett, Formerly of East Boston
Marlene Iacoviello of Everett, formerly of East Boston, passed away on February 15 at the age of 52.
She is survived by her loving daughter Miranda Mugford of Everett; her siblings Michele Conti of Everett, Michael Iacoviello of Ft. Myers, Florida, Mark Iacoviello of New Jersey, and Matthew Iacoviello of Drexel Hill, PA; and her loving companion James D Mugford of Chelsea. She was the cherished daughter of the late Michael and Lois (McNeil) Iacoviello and is also remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Today, Thursday, February 20, family and friends will gather to celebrate Marlene’s life from 4 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St., East Boston. A service in her honor will be held on Friday, February 21 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 50 Church St. (off Broadway) Everett, MA. (Please proceed directly to the Church.)
