Sheila Ciaramella
Chelsea crossing guard,
former McDonald’s employee
Sheila C. (Ryan) Ciaramella, a lifelong resident of Chelsea, died at her Chelsea home on July 5 following a brief but determined battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family at the time of her death. She was 73 years old.
During her career, Ciaramella worked for more than 15 years as a crossing guard, with her most recent assignment at Broadway and Webster Avenue. She also spent over 10 years employed at the McDonald’s located on the Revere Beach Parkway at Washington Avenue.
Ciaramella is survived by her four children: Bruce E. Ciaramella of Revere, Mark A. Ciaramella of Marlborough, NH, Michael J. Ciaramella of Lynn and Joanne Bruno of Everett. She was previously married to John Ciaramella of New Hampshire. Her siblings include Helen Asaro of Burlington, Marlene Taraskiewicz of Peabody, and Joseph Ryan of New Hampshire, as well as the deceased Catherine Smith, Kevin Ryan, Martin Ryan, Mary Cushing, Agnes Gordon, Leo F. Ryan, Jr. and Patricia Coyne. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held today, Thursday, July 10 at 9:30 a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, Chelsea, with a Funeral Mass following at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church, 59 Nichols Street, Chelsea. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Estelle Fixman
Friend to all and excellent cook
Estelle (Fogel) Fixman of Virginia, who formerly lived in Chelsea, passed away on Tuesday, July 1 at the age of 92.
Known as a kind friend to everyone and a talented cook, Estelle was a devoted partner to her husband Samuel throughout their 72 years of marriage. From 1943 to 1945, while Samuel served in the US Army Air Corps in Europe during World War II, she lived with her parents Isadore and Mary and her siblings Bobby and Lottie in Lewiston, Maine. She spent the majority of her adult years in Chelsea before moving to Phoenix, Arizona for her senior years. She had resided in Richmond for the past 18 years.
She leaves behind her husband Samuel Fixman of Richmond, VA; her children Joanne Kane of New Jersey with her husband Harvey, and Steven Fixman of Richmond with his wife Cheri; her grandchildren Dr. Adam Gafni-Kane of Chicago, Jennifer Stein of New Jersey and C. David Fixman of Richmond; and her great-grandchildren Jackson and Elizabeth Stein and Arnon, Zohar and Matan Gafni-Kane.
Private funeral services were held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to any chapter of The Alzheimer’s Foundation.
