Metro Credit Union held an official ribbon cutting to mark the opening of its newest branch at 334 Watertown St. in Newton.
Robert M. Cashman, President and CEO, explained the significance of the expansion: “fblikebutton_button” “Metro’s decision to open here has been many years in the making. We have thousands of members in the city and in neighboring communities and have always felt that our expansion here was inevitable. It’s great to finally make it happen,” he stated. Cashman went on to express the institution’s commitment, noting that “fblikebutton_button” “We are proud to be in Newton and look forward to expanding our efforts through community outreach, increased financial literacy and becoming a true partner in the neighborhood.”
The village of Nonantum in Newton was selected for Metro’s 15th branch location due to both its historical significance and the character of its residents and community. Nonantum is experiencing early revitalization efforts, and Metro has positioned itself as an active participant in similar neighborhood development throughout the communities it serves.
Business commenced at the location on Monday, August 18, bringing convenient banking services to Newton-area members.
