Doris Pelletier
Retired bank customer service representative
At the Everett Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on November 28, Doris T. Pelletier of Everett, formerly of Chelsea, passed away. She had reached 89 years of age.
Lawrence was her birthplace, where she was born to the late Elgide and Leonie (Bouchard) Pelletier. Most of her life unfolded in Chelsea after her family’s move there, though she relocated to Everett in 1975. For an extended period, she held the position of customer service representative, working first at Chelsea Savings Bank and subsequently at The Boston Five on Broadway. The former Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Chelsea counted her among its devoted supporters and parishioners.
The late Robert, Wilfred and Jeanette Pelletier were her siblings. Two nieces survive her: Regina O’Brien of Andover and Janice Carmichael of Haverhill, along with one nephew, William Pelletier of North Carolina.
St. Rose Church hosted her Mass of Christian Burial, with final services and interment taking place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Andover. Those wishing to honor her memory may direct charitable contributions to an organization of their choosing. The Anthony Memorial / Frank A. Welsh and Sons Funeral Home managed all arrangements.

Eugene Pizzano
Retired cab driver
On Saturday, November 29, Eugene L. Pizzano of Chelsea died at Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett following a brief illness. His age was 90.
Chelsea was both his birthplace and childhood home. The late Rudolph Sr. and Angelina (Scalino) Pizzano were his beloved parents. His education came through Chelsea Schools, culminating in his graduation from Chelsea High School, Class of 1942. During World War II, he enlisted in the US Army and served with the Army Air Corps in the Western Pacific and Tinian Islands, earning an honorable discharge at the rank of Corporal in 1946 before returning to Chelsea.
He pursued artistic training at the Scott Garvey School of Art in Boston, obtaining his diploma and Certificate of the Arts. Marriage to Eleanor Scalino followed in 1953, and together they raised their daughter and son in Chelsea.
Employment as a cab driver for Sq. Cab in Chelsea occupied much of his working life until retirement. Portrait drawing was an activity he cherished throughout his years.
His wife “Helen” K. Pizzano, his son Ronald A., and his brothers Rudolph Jr. and Walter Pizzano preceded him in death, as did his parents. His daughter Gina A. Pizzano of Chelsea, his sister Judith Pizzano of West Medford, and his brother Ronald C. Pizzano of Arlington survive him.
The Frank A. Welsh & Sons Funeral Home at 718 Broadway, Chelsea will host his Funeral on Friday, December 5 at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at The Immaculate Conception Church at the corner of Beach Street and Winthrop Avenue in Revere at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden will conclude the services. Zuilda Monteiro Gomes
Had kind and loving heart
On November 26, surrounded by her loving family at her Chelsea home following a prolonged illness, Zuilda Monteiro Gomes, a longtime Chelsea resident, passed away. She was 87 years old.
Sao Nicolau, Cabo Verde was where she was born and raised. The late Manuel Miguel Monteiro and Josefina Fermino Monteiro were her parents. Her schooling occurred there before she married Joao Nepomuceno Gomes. In Cape Verde Island they raised their family before settling in the United States in 1976 and establishing permanent residency in Chelsea in 1977.
Devotion to her home and family characterized Zuilda as a loving wife and mother. At Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, she worked as a laundry aide before her retirement in 1989.
Throughout her lifetime, she touched and assisted many people with her kind and loving heart. Cooking brought her joy, particularly when teaching her family traditional preparations. Time spent with loved ones, Word Search Puzzles, and rooting for the Celtics—her beloved basketball team—were among her favorite pastimes.
For 67 years she was the beloved wife of Joao Nepomuceno Gomes; her devoted children are Maria Alina Connolly, Mario Do Rosario Gomes, Emilia Gomes, Lorena Lopes, Josefina Gomes-Pais, Benedita Gomes-Wani, Virginia Monteiro Fernandes, Osvaldina Gomes Daly, Filipa Delfina Gomes, Manuel Gomes, Maria Josefina Gomes, Ana Oliveira, Inacio Gomes, and Pedro Gomes. Her siblings include Antonia Ana Monteiro, Florintina Soares, Antonia Canjinha Almeida, Miguel Monteiro, Maria Benedita Monteiro, Maria Arcenia Gomes, Jose Manuel Gomes, Serafin Manuel Gomes, Boaventura Ramos Monteiro, Benvinda Fermino Monteiro Lopes, Baltazar Ramos Monteiro, Belarmino Ramos Monteiro, Benfeito Ramos Monteiro, Maria de Lourdes Monteiro Soares, Armanda Fermino Monteiro Silva, Herminia Fermino Monteiro Soares and Joao Monteiro. Additionally surviving her are 43 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, seven sons-in-law, three daughters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Monday’s Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Rose Church, concluding with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Paul Bryan
Retired LPN; man with many interests
Following a long illness, Paul F. Bryan, a lifelong Chelsea resident, passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on November 28. He was 67 years old.
Military family membership meant Paul spent considerable time at bases in Germany and throughout the United States during his youth. After returning to Chelsea following his military service, he obtained an LPN degree in nursing from the Chelsea Soldiers Home and worked in various nursing care facilities until retiring a decade ago from Mediplex in Lynn. Beyond nursing, Paul earned a business degree from Bunker Hill Community College and held a real estate license. Guitar playing, songwriting, and singing occupied his leisure hours; he had participated at Woodstock and maintained a record collection while also writing poetry.
Lorraine A. (Richards) was his devoted wife. His beloved children are Derek Bryan of Pembroke Pines, FL, Kimberly Bryan-Dizon and her husband Ted, III of Chelsea, and Carrie DiNapoli and her husband Michael, Jr. of Derry, NH. James Bryan of Randolph and Judith Bryan of North Carolina are his siblings, as was the late Patricia Bryan-Armstrong. His cherished grandchildren include Aidan Dizon, Gillian Bryan, Michael DiNapoli, III, Bryan DiNapoli, and Mason Dizon. Many nieces and nephews also survive him.
Today, Thursday, December 4, his Funeral will be held at the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, Chelsea at 9:30 a.m., with a Funeral Mass to follow at Our Lady of Grace Church, 59 Nichols St., Chelsea at 10:30 AM. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett will conclude the services. Family and friends are cordially invited. Worked behind counter at Arthur’s Deli and S & L Cold Cut Center
On Thursday evening, November 27, after a courageous three-month battle with cancer, Elaine M. Comeau, a lifelong Chelsea resident, passed away at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
For many years, she worked behind the counter at Arthur’s Deli and S & L Cold Cut Center while remaining devoted to her family and friends.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Mary H. (McComiskey) Comeau; the devoted companion of Tammy M. Rampey of Chelsea; and the beloved sister of Cheryl McDonough of Chelsea, Lillian Baker of Malden, and the late Pauline Comier, Joseph Comeau, Philip Comeau, and David Comeau. Her nieces and nephews who survive her include Jaime Lubanski of Everett, Michael Lewis of Chelsea, Christopher Mercer and John Mercer of New Hampshire, Joshua Baker of Chelsea, Patrick Baker of Malden, Maryanne Smith, Michelle Comeau, and Robert Comeau of Canada, Haley Comeau of Saugus, and Allyson Comeau of Lynn.
